My name is Brooklyn Spirito and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor who offers therapy from a christian approach. I specialize in helping women and teen girls navigate and overcome tough situations. My goal is to assist you in overcoming battles that feel impossible to defeat and to provide you with a sense of hope when it feels as though there isn't any. I approach therapy with a lens that looks at the whole individual and not just their issues. My focus is to help you gain a better understanding of you and your situation while acknowledging that you are capable of making positive changes to your life. Whether you are struggling with a temporary circumstance or something that has been negatively impacting you for a long time, please know that I am here to help. This may be something you have wanted to do for a long time but haven’t had the courage to do so. I hope today is the day you reach out and stop hurting alone.
I love what I do... I consider it my calling and I’m excited to get to know you! I have worked with a variety of clients facing different issues in various circumstances. What I often times realize is that the issue someone is seeking therapy for tends to not always be the real issue at hand; but, instead it’s the mask that hides the real and deeper issues beneath the surface. Sometimes we have difficulty understanding why we do certain things or why we feel certain ways. Often times we need help seeing the deeper problem before we can tackle the symptoms caused by it. I am overjoyed when someone allows me into their life. Together we can make positive changes.
If you want to know some random bits about me:
I am a wife and a mother to three (biological and adoption)
I am always reading something. There is always a rotating stack of books by my bed.
I love to learn. I am always attending conferences or listening to sermons.
I have a minor obsession with unsweetened tea.
Before doing therapy full-time, I was a wedding photographer.
Background: In May of 2017 I graduated from Indiana University with my Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Addiction Counseling. I completed my internship at a local grief center where I co-facilitated groups and met individually with people in the early and later stages of grief. I completed my practicum at an intensive outpatient addiction facility where I facilitated addiction groups. After graduating I worked at a local psychiatric community mental health center where I facilitated intensive outpatient substance abuse groups and met regularly with individuals struggling with trauma and addiction issues. In 2018 I entered into private practice where I treated a broad range of mental health issues. While there I worked mostly with trauma, anxiety and depression.
